Salem Avenue Elementary is a school-wide Title I and Community school. This means we receive extra federal monies to support academic achievement. Funds are used in a variety of ways including additional staff, after school activities, assistance with transportation, instructional materials for students and families, family events, and much more.
We encourage families to get involved! We love family feedback! If you have any suggestions, comments or questions or would like to be part of our decision making committee please contact either Asher Kennedy, Title I School Family Liaison at [email protected] or Dominic Gianninoto, Community School Specialist at [email protected].

Teacher/Paraprofessional Qualifications
As a parent or guardian of a student in a Title I school, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of your child's classroom teacher(s) and paraprofessionals working with your child. If, at any time, you would like to receive this information about your child's teacher, or paraprofessionals working with your child, please send a written request into school.
Federal law requires us to let you know when a teacher or substitute who does not have a certain set of credentials teaches your child for four or more consecutive weeks. In the event that this would occur, you would be notified in a timely manner. If you have questions about this process, please contact the Title I office at 301-766-2936.
